How to: Sustainable Hospitality, Tourism and Events at South Lodge Hotel, Horsham

Hoteliers are welcome to take advantage of a free event in Horsham this month for businesses in Sussex taking place at the South Lodge hotel and looking at sustainability within the hospitality, tourism and events sectors.

The Sustainable Business Partnership CIC is a not-for-profit company which runs training and networking events focusing on sustainability and energy efficiency. The free event - How to: Sustainable Hospitality, Tourism and Events - is taking place at the South Lodge Hotel, Horsham, 19th January 09:30 – 12:00.

Exclusively for businesses in the hospitality, tourism and events sectors such as hotels, conference venues, restaurants, tourist attractions and sporting venues, this seminar will explore the benefits of improving resource efficiency and embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations. It is free to attend, funded by the Green Growth Platform.

The morning session will offer an opportunity to learn about:

  • Measures to improve energy and water efficiency and reduce waste at hotels, conference venues, tourist attractions and other hospitality and events premises
  • Methods to minimise the environmental impact of running events, including through utilisation of a management system such as ISO 20121
  • Auditing technique; how to identify and prioritise opportunities for savings and environmental improvements

The session is being hosted by the South Lodge Hotel, and General Manager David Connell will speak about why and how the hotel has embraced sustainability within its operations, leading to a diversion of 90% of waste from landfill, procurement of renewable energy tariffs and recycled products and the installation of a biomass boiler and combined heat and power system.

Booking is essential, you can register your interest online or by email network@sustainablebusiness.org.uk or phone 01273 964239.
