Independent hotels make supply chain decisions on sustainability criteria

The Independent Hotel Show returns to Olympia on 20 and 21 October with more ideas and inspiration to help hoteliers improve and grow their business, whilst maintaining best practice in terms of sustainability and responsible business agenda.

The show features around 300 hand-picked exhibitors covering the entire supply chain, many of whom demonstrate a strong green ethos, enabling hoteliers to make more informed choices when it comes to the products and services they select in relation to running their business responsibly.

Exhibitors to look out for this year include SaveMoneyCutCarbon, specialising in working with businesses to reduce energy and water consumption and cut costs, VDA Group, an international group of companies developing innovative building energy management systems and 100 Acres, an all-natural bath and body product supplier utilising the highest grade botanicals all made in the English countryside.

Strong supporter and official sponsor of the show, Hansgrohe, has increased their commitment to sustainability across the broad range of products that they supply to hoteliers. Their luxury bathroom products are developed to minimise the impact on the environment, reduce CO2 emissions, utilise renewable energies and incorporate sophisticated recycling and heat recovery systems. These all aid hoteliers in managing their business resources efficiently and sustainably.

Commenting on why sustainable practice is a key focus of their product development and so important to the industry, Martin Mongan, Managing Director from Hansgrohe says, "We are constantly improving the environmental compatibility, utility and durability of our products. Especially in the project business, where efficient and sustainable products contribute not only to the reduction in our carbon footprint but also use less water, therefore saving on the energy required to heat it.”

Alongside an array of exciting exhibitors the show will also feature a programme of seminars dedicated to informing and inspiring owners and operators within the independent hotel sector. Featuring some of the leading lights from the industry, the popular and well-attended seminars will focus on all issues relevant to running and maintaining a successful hotel business. Find out more about the latest developments within the industry and hear first-hand from some of the sector’s most respected hotels who continue to place sustainability and responsible practice at the heart of their business.

Commenting on the Independent Hotel Show’s commitment to supporting and showcasing sustainability within the sector, Miranda Martin, Show Manager, says, "Research conducted at the show each year cites sustainability and green issues as a leading factor in the decision making process for hoteliers when it comes to selecting new suppliers or services for their business. For that reason we are delighted to have extended our engagement with Hansgrohe, one of the leaders in bathroom sustainability, and to welcome an increasing number of hoteliers renowned for their pioneering eco-credentials. Sustainable sourcing and practice remains a key issue for independent hoteliers’ success and development. The show aims to supply an array of ideas and inspiration to ensure visitors are kept abreast of the latest developments and seek greener alternatives."
