Sheraton Incheon Hotel recognised as “World’s Leading Green Hotel”

Sheraton Incheon Hotel is delighted to announce that the hotel has been awarded ‘World’s Leading Green Hotel’ at the 2012 World Travel Awards.

The gala awards ceremony took place at the Oberoi hotel in New Delhi, India.

Voted from across the world, the World Travel Awards acknowledge and celebrate commitment to excellence in the hotel industry; rewarding organizations that have continued to raise the standard of their product and services over the last 12 months.

The hotel’s green policy, along with the continuous growth in business, has been recognized by numerous international awards since the hotel became a LEED certified hotel in March 2011. The hotel was recognised for the following measures:

  • Reduced automobile dependence
  • Bicycle network
  • Underground parking to produce energy
  • Recycled materials
  • Energy conservation: save 3.4 million litres annually (saving 24% of water)
  • Use of daylight to minimise electric light use

Mr. Richard Suter (General Manager of Sheraton Incheon hotel) has announced that the hotel will be continually supporting environment-friendly activities by participating in Starwood’s ‘30/20 by 20’ program which promises to reduce energy use by 30% and a water use by 20% by 2020. The hotel already offers Starwood's Sustainable Meetings package and Make a Green Choice programme.

With the announcement of ‘World’s Leading Green Hotel’ award the hotel launched an 'eco friendly' package for guests and is participating in ‘Make a green choice’, which gets guests to participate in energy savings.
