It's International Women's Day on the 8th March so throughout the month we're talking to and about women in the hospitality industry. Who are the Industry Leaders? What are the challenges they face? How do they get there? What support do they need?
Hotels and the hospitality industry can be a good fit for women as shifts can make it easier to work around child care, but sometimes these workers are under represented and low paid. How can we ensure they have a voice and fair access to reasonable pay?
The theme for this year's International Women's Day is 'Make It Happen' and there will be a drive to ensure women are seen in and given consideration for leadership roles, that they can have financial independence and equal pay, and that roles more commonly associated with men are open to them as well.
We'll be discussing these issues and asking our hotel partners and stakeholders questions like "what barriers do women face in a hotel-based career?" and "what can women bring to a senior position in hotels?" as well as those mentioned above.
