The Waldorf Hilton hotel, London UK, has announced a partnership with the charity Theatre Royal Haymarket – Masterclass Trust, which gives young people an opportunity to develop business and life skills.

Devoted to using theatre as a platform to build confidence, strengthen self-esteem and nurture creativity, the charity was set up by the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 1998. Since then, it has worked to inspire young people by collaborating with leading figures from the arts.

Due to its proximity to many of London’s leading theatres, the Waldorf Hilton has strong connections to Theatreland, and with the Hilton in the Community Foundation, the hotel raised more than £17,000 for Masterclass in 2015 through its fundraising efforts.

Following the partnership announcement, those fundraising initiatives will continue as the hotel and its employees come together with the charity to help make a difference to the lives of young people in the UK capital.

Guy Hilton, General Manager, The Waldorf Hilton said, “It’s vitally important for us to give something back to the community and we’re very much looking forward to embarking on this new partnership.

“Masterclass are a small charity, but they have had a big impact on the lives of so many young people – whether that’s through workshops, apprenticeships or creative opportunities. The arts is a great way to engage and inspire, and we’re delighted to be part of such a fantastic initiative.”

Blayne George, Programme Director, Theatre Royal Haymarket Masterclass Trust said, “We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as the Waldorf Hilton’s charity partner for 2017. Theatre is one of the oldest forms of creativity and is one of the most important ways we can communicate and collectively share experiences.

“It is only through the very generous support of The Waldorf Hilton that Masterclass is able to continue giving young people free access to the professional world of theatre; encouraging and empowering them to have faith in their voice.”

Masterclass is the in-house education charity of the Theatre Royal Haymarket, and for the past 18 years has been dedicated to opening the historic building as a resource for young people. The programme hosts inspiring and empowering talks with leading industry figures, onstage workshops, careers advice sessions, creative opportunities and paid apprenticeships for young people aged 16 – 30.

Hilton in the Community Foundation was founded in 2000, and is dedicated to supporting young people in need by combating exclusion and providing skills, aspirations and opportunities. Donations are funded almost entirely through the generous efforts and contributions of the community. Since its establishment in November 2000 the Foundation has raised more than £14m for charity.

As well as its community work, the hotel has achieved TripAdvisor GreenLeader silver status for its sustainability efforts. The Hilton group is also a supporter of the Youth Career Initiative, working worldwide to help disadvantaged young people access skills training in a range of hotel departments.
