The POLAR electric vehicle (EV) charging network has joined forces with award winning QHotels to provide EV owners with a place to recharge their car whilst they enjoy a stay in a luxury hotel
The partnership between the POLAR network and QHotels seemed the logical match, with the hotel group winning the AA Eco Hotel Group of the Year award 2011-2012. This award reflects the hotels continued commitment to sustainability through green initiatives.
The POLAR network, operated by Chargemaster Plc, is involved in the deployment of some 4,000 charging points across the UK and is one of the largest charging schemes worldwide helping to relieve ‘range anxiety’.
Collaborating with national energy suppliers, POLAR provides and installs wall mounted and fixed floor charging units, to organisations that want to offer green transport alternatives to both customers and staff and to private customers wanting Homecharge units and public network access.
The first phase of the POLAR roll out has now been completed focusing on the South Coast of England with phase two already underway along the M4 corridor.
QHotels has 21 individually crafted unique four-star hotels throughout the country and POLAR charge posts are located at Ashford International Hotel in Ashford, Kent, Bridgewood Manor in Rochester, Kent and The Hampshire Court Hotel in Basingstoke, Hampshire with more to be installed shortly.
Philip King, Director of Property, QHotels said: “QHotels are delighted to be partnering with Chargemaster in this exciting roll out of electric vehicle charging points throughout the country, this fits very well with QHotels culture of sustainability.”
David Martell, Chief Executive of Chargemaster Plc commented: “In a bid to reduce global carbon emissions, POLAR is supporting new electric technology by investing and providing a nationwide EV charging network. This can only be achieved with the support of forward thinking companies such as the QHotels Group, who realise the importance of the EV market and the conservation of the environment.”
