Retaining the award highlights the continued efforts made by hotel employees who have helped to implement more energy-saving measures throughout the property. Since the hotel was first accredited, additional energy saving measures have been introduced. Jumeirah Beach Hotel now uses grey water from Dubai Municipality for irrigation purposes which helps conserve water supplies efficiently, responsibly and intelligently. This change has helped Jumeirah find solutions to environmental issues and achieve lower operational costs. Other changes include installation of room management systems for all 126 renovated rooms, which helps to monitor, manage and control the energy consumed within the rooms.
Jumeirah Beach Hotel was certified by Green Globe in 2013 for its outstanding sustainability management plan that was developed in-line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. During the audit, Jumeirah Beach Hotel achieved a compliance score of 85% against the Green Globe Standard for Sustainable Travel and Tourism, an increase of eight percentage points or over 10%, from 77% in 2013.
Mahmoud Sakr, General Manager of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, said: “We are very proud to have received this prestigious certification once again which is the result of our commitment and dedication to enhancing our economic, social and environmental sustainability. Jumeirah Beach Hotel will constantly reinforce its focus on ethical and ecologically friendly practices across all departments.”
